Hoof Trimmer

• Provide a hoof care service for small and large dairies in south-central Wisconsin, focusing on maintenance and therapeutic trimming, and lameness prevention
• Develop preventative maintenance programs and trimming schedules for clients
• Recommend proper follow-up treatments to on-farm personnel for optimal recovery of hoof lesions
• Teach on-farm personnel about lame cow identification, therapeutic hoof trimming and treatment protocol
• Recommend footbath solutions and management practices
• Advise clients during facility construction and remodeling with regards to facility layout, cow comfort, cow handling, heat abatement and flooring options
• Provide post-course instruction to Dairyland Hoof Care Institute graduates
